Union membership delivers real benefits. On average, union members have better pay and conditions than non members. At ANMF Tasmania, we recognise that the union is its members. Your voice, involvement, and solidarity give the organisation its strength.

Why Your Membership Matters
ANMF cannot achieve better outcomes for nurses, midwives, and care workers without member support. The more members we have, the more influence we hold. Greater influence increases the chances of securing improvements to pay, conditions, and workplace safety.

Being an ANMF member is a commitment to your own wellbeing, the wellbeing of your colleagues, and the people you care for, including patients and residents. Active membership strengthens that commitment and allows you to help shape the future of your workplace.

How You Help the ANMF Support You
Members provide essential information from workplaces across Tasmania. Whether the issue relates to daily conditions or to a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA), ANMF relies on member input to act effectively.

ANMF Tasmania employs experienced industrial staff and legal specialists. The team also includes officials who are nurses and midwives, which helps ensure the work reflects real clinical experience.

Your Role in EBA Campaigns
Members can contribute to bargaining in several ways:

  • discuss workplace issues with colleagues, Delegates, or Health and Safety Representatives
  • submit ideas for improvements as motions to Delegates Conferences
  • vote on protected industrial action and employer offers, which only members can do

Your Power and Your Responsibility
Membership provides influence, but it also requires engagement. To support strong outcomes:

  • know your EBA, which is available in the Member Portal under My Membership
  • read the log of claims during bargaining campaigns and discuss it with colleagues
  • bring ideas for improvement to your Delegates at any time
  • consider becoming a Delegate, as ANMF provides training, tools, and protections
  • attend meetings to stay informed and participate
  • stay connected by reading newsflashes, emails, and social media updates
  • check your email preferences in the Member Portal if you are not receiving Infusion or eNews
  • take part in campaign activity when needed, including workplace conversations, rallies, or visible support actions

Stronger Together
Every new member strengthens our collective position. Every active member contributes to meaningful change.

Encourage your colleagues to join ANMF Tasmania. Together, we can protect and improve the future of nursing, midwifery, and care work in our state.
